David Birnbaum  

David is currently CEO of New York based PearTree Equity, LLC. He was a member of the Founding Management Team of Cometa Networks, a company formed by Intel, IBM, and AT&T, and private equity firms Apax Partners and 3i to provide wholesale Wi-Fi networks in public venue. Prior to Cometa , he was an investment professional in the Technology Group at Apax Partners (formerly Patricof & Co. ventures), a global private equity firm with over $11 billion under management. He has also spent several years as an investment banker in the Telecommunications Group at Furman Selz , LLC. David received his BA from Columbia University and his MBA from the Wharton School of Business.

Lee Harris

Lee Harris is a Memphis entrepreneur with a proven track record of leadership and a genuine passion to improve secondary education through his Enriching Future Minds initiative. Prior to his current educational focus, Lee was a senior management and marketing executive for more than 25 years with the Walter Lambert Company and Pfizer, Inc. In the past he has served on the board of the American Logistics Association and has taught at Pennsylvania State University . He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Memphis Black Business Association and Serve Holding, LLC. Lee joined the Air Force early in his career after attending Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois.

Gabriel Morris

Gabriel is currently a student at Columbia University in New York, NY. After graduating from White Station High School in Memphis, TN and studying for one year at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, he worked intimately on the launch of an internet-based startup company through his involvement with PearTree Equity, a venture capital firm in New York, NY, with whom he continues to be involved today. In 2005, he founded the Columbia Undergraduate Science Journal, published by the Columbia University Libraries and supported by the Columbia President and Provost. Also in 2005, Gabriel was admitted through an early admission program to Mount Sinai Medical School in New York, NY, where he will be pursuing the M.D. degree after graduation.

Angel Perkins

A 17-year high-school teaching veteran, Angel is currently serving on the national No Child Left Behind Working Group, a committee on high school education policy that reports directly to the U.S. Secretary of Education (Margaret Spellings). Angel is also a member of the U.S. Department of Education's Teacher-To-Teacher Training Corps. Consistently committed to increasing both overall and minority involvement in science, she is currently developing a professional development series titled “An Anecdotal Approach to Teaching Science in an Urban Setting.” This series is comprised of community-based modules on the major concepts in biology and the supporting materials. She was awarded Mentor Teacher of the Year in 2005 by the Tennessee Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. Angel received her BSE, MSNS, and EdS from Delta State University .

Tyson Pratcher

A native of Memphis, TN, Tyson is a graduate of Hampton University and Columbia University Law School. In 2000 he joined Davis Polk and Wardwell in New York , where he worked on the Campaign for Fiscal Equity (CFE). The CFE challenged New York State's school funding formula which deprived urban school districts of the resources necessary to ensure students received a sound basic education upon graduation. The CFE has led to similar lawsuits in 45 states, including in Tennessee. In 2003, at the age of 28, Tyson was recruited by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to become her Deputy State Director, making him one of the youngest people to serve in such a senior position in the U.S. Senate. Additionally, Tyson was one of the original board members of APPLE P.I.E. (Partners in Education), a foundation dedicated to helping middle school teachers across the nation better understand the science they teach.
